Þeir sem komnir eru á aldur muna eflaust einhverjir eftir Painkiller, fyrstu persónu skotleik sem kom út á PC árið 2004 og litlu síðar á Xbox. Sá hefur nú verið endurhannaður fyrir nýrri leikjavélar og stefnir á útgáfu í haust.
Í leiknum hefur þú verið dæmdur til vistar í helvíti en færð möguleika á að sleppa þaðan með því að salla niður heilu bílfarmana af árum og djöflum með ofurvopnum af ýmsum stærðum og gerðum. Painkiller verður hægt að spila ein(n) eða í co-op á netinu.
Upprunalegi leikurinn var hugarfóstur stúdíósins People Can Fly en þessi endurgerð er á vegum Anshar Studios sem hafa komið að gerð leikja eins og Layers of Fear og Baldur’s Gate 3. Útgefendur eru 3D Realms og Saber Interactive.

Painkiller er væntanlegur fyrir PlayStation 5 þann 9. október. Samtímis kemur leikurinn út fyrir Xbox Series og PC vélar.

Útgáfu Painkiller hefur verið frestað um nokkra daga en nýr útgáfudagur er 21. október. Höfundar leiksins hafa einnig kynnt að nýr roguelike valkostur verði í boði í nýju útgáfunni.
